Sydney is a privileged city where it is possible to visit incredible places by taking a day trip. Monique from the travel instagram Moni Journey shared with us her 5 favorite places to take a day trip from Sydney. Check out what these destinations are:
1 – Blue Mountains:
Classic destination for those who live in Sydney, but it is that place that is always worth spending the day. It is an easily accessible destination, as here you have the possibility to arrive by train, which is approximately 3 hours from Sydney.
Here are some places you can’t miss:
Lincoln ‘s Rock – An incredible lookout with stunning views of the mountains! The best time to go there is at sunset, where many people get together to watch the end of a beautiful day with some good snacks!

Wentworth Falls – Circuit with several waterfalls from easy to difficult access. Here, you will have several options of trails and you will be able to choose the best ones that fit your itinerary of the day. For the full circuit, it takes around half a day.

Three Sisters – The Blue Mountains postcard, is a must stop!
Zig Zag Railway – One of the most unusual places there is in the region it is definitively this train line! The place is worthy of a postcard, and very similar to a tourist destination in Sri Lanka. However, accessing the site is very complicated, and care must also be taken as the trains once again circulate on the lines.
If you want to know in detail how to get there, see this post with all the details.

And finally, some charming cafes in the city of Leura in Blue Mountains for you to know:
- Leura Cafe & Deli
- Leura Garage
- Cafe Leura
- Sorensens Glass House

This travel itinerary, created by Monique,, is very different and complete. On this day trip you will pass through several different places enjoying a little bit of beach, tracks and waterfalls. Perfect schedule for a day, isn’t it?
Mermaid pools: Beautiful waterfall with greenish tones with a large pool for swimming. This waterfall is the first stop of the day. The trail is super easy to do and is just over an hour away from Sydney.
Fitzroy Falls: The next stop is 1 hour from Mermaid Pools and is already located in the Kangaroo Valley region. Fitzroy Falls is another beautiful and majestic waterfall to enjoy on this trip!
Carrington falls: One of the most famous waterfalls in the region! Here at Carrington Falls, you can choose to enjoy the lookout and the small pools that form before the waterfall falls, or go straight to the bottom where the waterfall falls, meaning both ways are really incredible to enjoy!

Kiama: Kiama is a very small and charming town, with beautiful beaches. Here you will find great options for lunch and the famous Kiama Blowhole!
Sea Cliff Bridge: This beautiful lookout could not be left out of your day trip from Sydney! On the way back home, towards Sydney, you will find this lookout where you can have an incredible view of the road that, at this point, becomes a bridge. The view is really worth it! The trail to the lookout starts from the parking with approximately 15 minutes of walking!
If you still have time after the Sea Cliff Bridge, visit the Sri Venkateswara Temple. This is a less touristy, beautiful and interesting temple to visit. There are many faithful and worshipers of the Hindu culture here, it is worth taking a quick stop and making the perfect ending of your day trip from Sydney!
